Impact Hub Seattle is a coworking space, events space, and launch pad for purpose-driven ventures that create more value than they capture. Our community helps entrepreneurs and businesses consider the social and environmental impact of their business practices, while also pushing philanthropists and nonprofits to become self-sustaining through collaboration and more efficient business models.
We want to ensure that every one of our 700+ members is supported by and engaged in the Impact Hub Seattle community. The Community Administrator will be instrumental in achieving this goal by managing our host program and key member services. There are two components to this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Managing Host Program
We have a team of volunteer hosts that is the face of Impact Hub Seattle - they are responsible for greeting everyone as they enter the space, keeping the space clean and functional, answering questions, and taking potential and new members through Trial Days and First Day Kickoffs. In exchange for one seven-hour shift a week for four months, hosts receive a free, FT, six-month membership to our space (value of $345/month). The Community Administrator will be responsible for recruiting, interviewing, selecting, orienting, and managing hosts during each four-month cohort. While the recruiting and training of hosts at the beginning of each cohort is the most time-intensive aspect of this position, you also will be expected to manage the hosts throughout each cohort – monitor host schedules, check-in with hosts daily to make sure they are following checklists, making progress on their host projects, and feeling supported and valued as integral members of our community and team (because they are!).
2. Managing Member Services
The Community Administrator also will be responsible for managing aspects of several key member services, including mail, conference rooms, and shared office and kitchen supplies.
The Community Administrator will report directly to one of the Co-Founders of Impact Hub Seattle and the Director of Operations.
This would be a perfect entry-level position for someone who is incredibly detail-oriented, organized, and excellent at time management. We are seeking an individual who is adaptive, calm, self-motivated, and extremely reliable. Experience managing volunteers and working in a direct customer service role is ideal. We also hope to find someone with a strong interest in community building and/or social entrepreneurship.
Host Management: 15-20 hours/week during host cohort; 25+ hours/week during host recruitment, interviews and on-boarding.
Managing member services: 15-20 hours/week.
Team Meetings: 2 hours/week.
Availability: This is a full-time role - you must be available M-F, 8am-5pm
As a startup, our compensation is commensurate with our growth stage. This position is a FT salaried position with limited benefits (ORCA pass for unlimited public transit, FT Impact Hub membership privileges, including some meals, various & interesting events/workshops, incredible network, etc) and lots of opportunity (flexible hours, potential of profit sharing, incredible network of persons/orgs). First year salary will be roughly $30K/year with bonus opportunities based on performance.
