About Impact Hub Seattle:
We are a coworking space, events space, and launch pad for purpose-driven ventures that create more value than they capture. We provide a remarkable space for productive work, a driven community that resides at the intersection of both for-profit and nonprofit worlds, and a diverse selection of programming to guide our members with the tools they need to build their venture.
We reside on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Masin’s Furniture Building in Pioneer Square and the 2nd and 3rd floor of the 240 building next door. Our space is hosted from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday.
What we’re building at Impact Hub and with the Hosting Team:
We are, first and foremost, a membership community. We want to change the world for the better, but we know that it’s ultimately happy, healthy, educated, diverse, and involved people that will make that change. Your job as host will be to welcome members and guests into our space as you would into your home – make them feel welcomed, special, connected, and armed with the resources they will need to make the change they wish to see.
We have two hosts on duty at a time (one on the first floor and one on the second floor), you will share responsibilities and work as a team. Please be aware that first and foremost, you will be in our space to host members. About 60% of your time will be spent with facilities, and infrastructure, and 40% spent connecting with members. Hosts will not be required to work on weekends.
A Word about Professionalism, Timeliness, & Dependability:
We offer a great “on-call” host system to help with out-of-town requests and sick days, but we do ask that hosts try to stick to their scheduled shifts, and that they make plans to reschedule with other hosts well in advance. Showing up on time for your shift is also a necessity! Although this is a work-trade position, please treat this role with the same dependability and professionalism as you would any job.
For one, four-month commitment as a host, you’ll receive:
**Hosts do not receive free conference room access, but will be able to reserve conference rooms at Full-Time member pricing per their membership.
What Makes a Great Host?
Great hosts come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. The hosts that tend to have the most success are those who are excited about the Impact Hub community and will use Impact Hub as a launching pad to further their own ventures and expand their community! The best hosts around tend to be (but are not limited to) late-twenties to mid-forties, freelancers and small business owners. What you put into this experience is what you will get out of it. If you are observant, dependable, smart, socially conscious, don’t have a problem helping out with logistics around the space, you understand that great customer service is the most important aspect of the hosting position and are excited about the opportunity to be a welcoming presence, then this is the position for you!
