Interview with John Boyle

John, one of our Hosts, is a published author, a soon-to-be-dad, and a lifelong activist and organizer who wants to make a positive impact in the world.

Q: Who are you? Introduce yourself as you would at a dinner party.

A: Eternal optimist, long-time activist and a new entrepreneur looking for new and bigger challenges to help make a positive impact on the world.

Q: What is something that really excites you right now (a trend, life development, time of year, food, etc.)?

A: In April I will be a Dad, and I just published my first book “Rent-to-Own Your First Home: An American Dream Story” about my experience buying a rent-to-own home in Seattle.

Q: You have $10M to spend in the next year, and you can’t spend it on you, your friends or your family. How do you spend it?

A: I would donate all $10M to help Elect Elizabeth Warren President of the U.S. in 2016. If she does not run, I’d ask her donate it to a charity that benefits residents of both Washington and Massachusetts.

Q: What’s on the horizon for you (a new project, career path, personal development)?

A: Right now the main focus of my life is preparing to be a parent. I have also put a lot of work into diversifying my experience in 2014 to branch out professionally in 2015. I am always looking for opportunities to take on big challenges that ignite my passions.

Q: Where do you usually hang out when you are at Impact Hub? How often are you here?

A: In either of the main co-working spaces. I try to come to the HUB every day but lately I have been out of the building a lot while I work on promoting my book.

Q: What is something we don’t know? (Either about you, or something else)

A: I prepare and plan for everything but I am most comfortable when I am “in over my head” on something.

Q: What are your 3 favorite places in Seattle?

A: Lincoln Park, Seattle Public Library, and SAM Olympic Sculpture Park.
