Jeff Petty

Founder/Director at Puget Sound Consortium for School Innovation, a Big Picture Learning initiative
Neighborhood: West Seattle

I'm a former high school principal working to develop a regional and scalable learning lab for public school innovation. The work involves incubating new schools, re-designing existing ones, developing new principal leadership pathways, and shifting how teachers and school leaders learn together. The Consortium originated from and is guided by the following beliefs: personalized learning, especially connected to real world learning experiences, holds the highest promise for transforming teacher practice and student outcomes; our region needs high-fidelity exemplars to guide change at the school, district, and systems level; new approaches are needed to develop leaders to continually create the schools we need, not just try to improve the ones we have; and educators need support to learn together in new ways, including through collaboration with innovators from other sectors.
